Note: there’s an updated listing here.
Top food blogs in Sydney, Melbourne, ACT and Tasmania combined.
July last year, noodlies, Sydney food blog began a humble project to rank the top 30 Sydney food blogs by estimated traffic. By March this year, the number of Sydney food blogs on the list ballooned to 347 delicious blogs.
By 31 March, another 246 Melbourne food blogs were added with the help of Ed from Tomato. For the first time, there was a ranking system which covered Sydney and Melbourne food blogs, taking the new total to 593.
NOODLIES TOP AUSTRALIAN FOOD BLOGS RANKING
Today, that list has grown to 645 with the addition of two new Sydney blogs and the addition of ACT (thanks to Lizzy from Bizzy Lizzy’s Good Things) and Tasmanian food blogs, taking us even closer to a national ranking system. I intend to, depending on resources, increase coverage to other cities and states each quarter.
For now, please enjoy reading these amazing 645 Australian based food blogs (knowing it will grow each quarter)!
Top Australian Food Blogs including Sydney, Melbourne, ACT and Tasmania, as at 29 June 2014
- Top Sydney food blog and overall is Not Quite Nigella
- Top Melbourne food blog is The World loves Melbourne
- Top ACT food blog is Bizzy Lizzy’s Good Things
- Top Tasmanian blog is Two Clowns Tripping
[table id=6 /]
TABLE LEGEND & THINGS TO NOTE
- Rank column is the current rank. The lower the rank, the higher the estimated traffic.
- Blog is the food blog name, click to read that blog.
- Alexa Rank is a website ranking system developed by Alexa, a subsidiary of US giant, Amazon. Alexa’s traffic estimates are based on data from their global traffic panel, which includes millions of internet users using one of over 25,000 different browser extensions. Please note it’s an estimation of blog traffic and rank, I’m sure even Amazon would concede this.
- Loc is the primary location of the blog.
A FINAL NOTE IN RELATION TO BLOGS WITHOUT A RANK
There are a few reasons why some blogs don’t have a rank:
- New blogs
- Low traffic
NEXT UPDATE
Noodlies intends to publish updates quarterly: at the end of March, June, September, December.
I intend to add new cities to the list each quarter. Remaining cities are Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
FEEDBACK
- If your food blog is Sydney, Melbourne, ACT or Tasmanian-based and not listed above, please leave a comment and I’ll add your blog for the next round. Leaving a comment helps me track your request, please don’t email as it gets lost in the volume I get each day.
- Do you find this list and the ranking useful?
- Any other suggestions?
For now, happy reading!
Hey Thang. I’m happy to help out with collating and ranking the Perth list if you need a hand.
Martine of Chomp Chomp has put together the Perth food blog list so should be easy to add to this list 🙂 http://www.chompchomp.com.au/2014/01/perths-hottest-100-food-blogs-2014/
Nice one!
Am hoping to update mine shortly too
Hi Thang,
Thanks for including my blog on your Top Food Blog list!
I notice my blog is listed under SYD food blogs when I am actually Melbourne based.
Any chance you could please change my listing to Melbourne?
Hi brodie, thanks for letting me know, will sort for the next run, thanks.
Hi Thang,
Thanks again for finding the time to tabulate this list – it’s awesome! There’s a lot of great new blogs on the list that I now want to follow and read in detail. OMG – I can’t believe my blog is ranked #48! I’m not too sure how Alexa Rank works, but I think a lot of the clicks on my site come from myself – lol. Also, after my recipes are approved on Foodgawker, I notice an influx of visitors too. I’m not really using Tastespotting yet, but hope to do so also. Thanks again for organising this. Best wishes! 🙂
Padaek, Alexa isn’t really accurate at all – a blog could have 10x the traffic of another, but the latter blog could have a far higher Alexa rank as it’s purely based on how much traffic the blog gets that’s also “Alexa” traffic. There’s a lot of resources out there that go into this in detail.
What Thang is doing is a more casual, “for fun” kind of list, and really should not be taken as a source of truth. That said, can’t wait to see next quarter’s rankings 😀
Awesome – thanks Michael for explaining that – sorry for the late reply. Seo, web traffic, site ranking, etc is an area that I’m not very familiar with and probably won’t fully grasp. This list is great – love to be able to see and know all of Oz’s digital food devotees in one place. With respect to Thang, Chocolatesuze has got a good list of Oz food bloggers on her site, although I suspect she doesn’t want her homepage to be filled with a growing list of blog names.., so this list here is perfect as a directory also. Australia’s got some amazing food bloggers, writers, photographers, eaters, etc, and together, I think we can work towards achieving great things. Not sure how or what, but I think we can. 🙂 Thanks again Thang and Michael. 🙂
Hi Thang! Thanks for the rank! Love this! 🙂
Great list Thang! And what a huge job in compiling it! Thanks so much for including the ACT blogs this time around! That list is growing too as we discover more and more food blogs out there! Hope the other States and Territories get their kaboodle together and send in lists to you as well…
geez, I’ve been blogging for years and have a good following and I’m not on the list 🙁 🙁

accurate or not, this list is an awesome way to discover food blogs. We have so many talented food writers, photographers and cooks! Brilliant work Thang
Hi Thang! I’m from Dessertified and would love to be included in this list since I’ve been around since August last year. Thank you!
Thanks Johnny, will add you as a Sydney blog for the next run thanks.
Hi Thang. Thanks so much for compiling this! Sadly my blog doesn’t rank, but I’m guessing that’s just because I’m a small fish in a big sea of amazing blogs 🙂

Actually it does rank. I’ll add it to the next run for ACT thanks. And thanks for entering the Luke Nguyen comp.
G’day Thang,
Many thanks for pulling this list together, it’s given me a whole new world of blogs to explore!
I was surprised, and quite chuffed, to see Two Clowns Tripping pop up as the No. 1 Tassie blog. I’m fortunate to live down here, and if any visitors to this gorgeous State would like to know more about the many food options available to them then I’m more than happy to take questions. Just drop by the blog and post a comment, or email me directly.
Cheers!
Andrew.
Congrats Andrew. And thanks for the offer of helping visitors. Everyone, visit Andrew’s blog, Two Clowns Tripping and hit him up with questions.
