Artarmon has such a cute village atmosphere, complete with an Asian section on the quieter side of the train station. Enter, and it feels like some sort of hidden, secret garden, you’d never think it’s just seconds from the train. Here, you’ll find the Artarmon branch of Sushi-Ya (the other one is in Chatswood).
Agedeshi tofu floats in a light sauce that is spiced with fresh shavings of spring onions. The tofu is dense and substantial holding it’s own in the sauce, although I prefer my tofu more silky and delicate.
The pork katsu udon is delightful; the clear soup is subtle but amazingly zesty, udon retains firmness in the soup while the pork is crunchy outside and well cooked and tender inside. Very, very hard not to like.

Haven’t been to Sushiya in years. Nice to hear that it still has it’s charm. I loved the croquette sushi roll there, but your katsu udon looks great too.
It’s such a lovely area
