Ms G’s is generating a real buzz around Sydney.  noodlies dispatched contributor, KLui to report on Dan Hong’s latest funky, culinary adventure. Here’s her report…

I was so lucky to catch March into Merivale. I’ve heard so much about Ms G’s, the awesome sealed cocktails and its heady Asian fusion cuisine. And it was busy the night we went, due to its popularity, I “waited” at the bar for over 30 min, the cocktails did seem to make time go by a lot quicker.

I loooove their innovative Asian inspired cocktail list! Go the chinoise, oriental funk!

  • Pina ‘pearl’ colada – the green sago pearls glow in the dark
  • Tango Jack – rum, fernet brance, jack fruit, apricot, apple juice

Vietnamese steak tartare, prawn crackers – the steak was perfectly marinated and it went so well with shallots and fried shallots. Love the different texture in one plate – the crispy, the runny and the chewy.

noodlies Sydney food blog meets egg noodle with XO sauce, braised duck, soft poached egg – XO sauce is very common is Cantonese cuisine, but Ms. G’s was unbelievable. You could taste the freshness of the fried scallops and shrimps in the sauce but the whole delicious flavour wasn’t overwhelmed by the chili at all.

Fried baby chicken, kim chi mayo – the chicken was very tender, though I must admit, I got a bit freaked out by how tiny it was.

noodlies sneak peak: look at all these dedicated chefs in a busy kitchen!

And… here’s the mastermind behind the gorgeous food, Dan Hong, in a blur! I was suprised to see him in the kitchen, making sure all the dishes looked good before they came out of the kitchen! Thumbs up, Dan my man!

Within two hours in the restaurant, I’ve saw the who’s who of food, George and Matt from Masterchef, Dan Hong and Adriano Zumbo. So many stars that just makes Ms. G’s glitter.
