It’s Oktoberfest every day at Bavarian Bier Cafe where the girls are busty, the boys and brawny and the beer (or should I say bier) abound.

It’s 6pm on a Friday night, the first stage of noodlies Sydney food blog’s progressive dinner through Eat Street, Chatswood Central begins… course one: entree.

Ask the staff what to try and they’ll suggest the rack of pretzel with butter.  Everyone tells me pretzels are better for you.  I don’t care, they’re delicious and even more so with butter.

But it’s a bier cafe so we had to sample, it was a case of Hofbrau Original for him and of course, the Ladies Bier for her, in this case passion fruit flavour and served in a glass.  My beer was cold, crisp and came with a nice head.  She’s not a fan of beer but enjoyed the passion fruit flavour.

And it’s not in the Bavarian spirit to enjoy your beer without meat, and a lot of it.. so we had to order the Bavarian Antipasto platter.  I loved the prosciutto but actually was amazed at the range and size of the plate for less than $20.

We too a little detour from Bavaria and ordered the Pissaladiere with Crystal Bay prawns, it’s a pizza-ish dish that originated in France and is my favourite dish during this stop of the progressive dinner.  The salad was fresh, dressing light but tasty and the base had so much flavour, perfect with beer!

Bavarian Bier Cafe was a perfect start of a Friday night, we needed to unwind after a loooong week with a couple of drinks and some good conversation… now we’re ready for mains at Izakaya Arigato…
