Katin is a new Thai restaurant in a small group of shops on Fairfield Street, near a lawn mower shop and a newsagent. I’ve been there once already, but I was alone at that time, which didn’t give me much of a chance to sample the menu.
Today there were two of us and we ordered what we’d normally order at other thai or thai-laos restaurants in the local area.
The chicken curry was creamy, chicken tender and not over-cooked.
Duck salad |
The ingredients in the duck salad salad were fresh, sauce was tart, tangy but also fish sauce salty and you can just taste just the right level of lemongrass.
Grilled chicken |
The grilled chicken was a tad oily, but not excessively, maybe just a tad undercooked for me, but nothing serious. It came with lovely, tasty combination of sauces.
The quality and freshness is pretty good at Katin Thai, staff friendly and helpful – maybe to compensate for the out of the way location and its newness. You could do worse than Katin Thai (and I have). I think noodlies Sydney food blog will be coming back.

Ooh, lucky! No good Thai places near us. Laotian – now I'm dreaming!
Oh gosh, we're lucky in Sydney, heaps of good Thai
sound like it is worth a try-we used to have a favourite Thai restaurant-Dusit Thai in Dundas, but lately we suspect that they use alot of msg because of funny symptoms after eating there- thanks for the reveiw!
Do Randal, drove by a few times and they don't seem to have a lot of customers as yet… it's in a small shopping strip, hope they get more customers, they desserve to.
Love this place. I have coeliacs disease so I’m restricted from eating at most places. These guys took time to learn about my allergy and prepare my meals accordingly. Was stiicking to rice noodles and vegetables as I knew that was safe then one day I went in and the owner explained that he looked up my condition on google and has worked out that I can eat other dishes as well. They even clean the pan before cooking my food.
